I am really excited to anounce that one of my projects will be featured in October's issue of Kitchens, Bedrooms and Bathrooms Magazine.
The strong arcitectural open plan kitchen and living space as well as the master bedroom, ensuite bathroom and dressing room have been recently beautifully photographed for the article.
In Brief, the house has been in my client's family for almost fifty years. It was in need of a complete refurbishment which had become long overdue. We all saw this as an opportunity to transform the family home into a house that could accommodate everyday living, working and entertaining comfortably. Originally the house was compartmentalised into specific rooms with their uses, now an open plan space allows this flexibility of usage.
I was appointed to entirely refurbish this end of terrace Victorian house and to build a new extension. I recommended an architect (Volume three architects www.volumethree.com) to design and build a large glass extension whilst I was responsible to design the interior spaces of the whole house.
The master bedroom, dressing room and bathroom were originally 3 separate rooms. I wanted to treat them as one to create a luxury suite. (I was probably influenced by my past experience in hotel design). The main structural work was to knock through into the rear bedroom to create a large bathroom.
The architects and I have tried to stay true to the fabric of the buildings. What is of the Victorian period has been respected and enhanced. What is of today makes use of current architectural and building capabilities.
In the article, find out what the thinking behind the designs for these rooms in the house were and how they were achieved as well as where everything was sourced from and what it all cost.
